Features
Family Galaxy turns the GEDCOM file you already have into four views you'll actually want to show people. Everything here is included free.
The Galaxy view
The home person sits at the centre. Their parents form the first ring, grandparents the second, and so on — each ancestor in their own place, with the father's side and mother's side on opposite halves. Brothers, sisters, cousins and in-laws cluster around the ancestor they descend from, so you can see at a glance which branches are full and which are thin.
- Gold stars and threads show the direct line; blue stars are blood relatives; violet stars are family by marriage.
- Drag to spin, scroll or pinch to zoom, or use the on-screen buttons.
- Click any star to open that person, or search for them by name.
- Send a bloodline from the Bloodline view and watch it light up across the galaxy.
The Tree view
A clear, traditional chart. Choose Ancestors to see someone's parents, grandparents and beyond, or Descendants to see their children, grandchildren and spouses. Show between three and eight generations, pan and zoom freely, and click any card to make it the focus.
The Map view
Every birth and death place in your tree, plotted on a map styled to match the night sky. Circles grow with the number of family events in a place. Filter to births, deaths or both, show only your direct bloodline, and turn on moves to draw a line from where each person was born to where they died.
We find places by name. Places written as Town, County, Country map best. Lookups happen once and are remembered, so the map gets quicker each time.
The Bloodline view
An animation of your family arriving through time. The years count up from your earliest ancestor; each person rises as a light in the year they were born, father's side in gold and mother's side in rose. Couples drift together when they marry, and when someone dies their star joins a heart that slowly fills — until the home person is born at the centre, followed by their children and grandchildren. Play it full screen with music, change the speed, or jump straight to your own lifetime.
Switch to How they're connected to choose anyone in your tree and see the chain of people linking them to the home person. Family Galaxy names the relationship for you — grandparents, great-aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces, and cousins of any degree and removal.
