About Family Galaxy
It started with one family tree, built as a gift.
Family Galaxy began as a gift. We'd spent years building a family tree on a genealogy website — more than two thousand people, fourteen generations — and wanted to share it with someone who mattered most, for whom tiny boxes and endless scrolling simply didn't work.
So we built something different. Large, clear buttons. A view where the whole family appears at once, spread out like stars, with them at the centre. A gold thread you could follow back through the centuries. When they saw it for the first time, the questions started: who's that? where did they live? how are we related?
That's what Family Galaxy is for. Not research tools — there are excellent ones already — but a way to see the family you've found, and to share it with the people it belongs to.
What we believe
- Family history should be for everyone. We design for older eyes and different abilities first, which makes it better for everybody.
- Your family's data is yours. We don't sell it, share it or use it to advertise to you.
- Wonder matters. Charts are useful. But seeing three hundred years of your family glowing around you is something else.
